TIRANA, Nov 18 /ATA/ The “Neim Babameto” school in Durrës, damaged by the November 26 earthquake, has already reopened its doors after reconstruction up to the standards for its 794 students.
Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of State for Reconstruction, Arben Ahmetaj, went to Durrës, where they saw first-hand the reconstructed premises of the “Neim Babameto” school, as well as the reconstruction works on Durres’ Vocational School.
“A pleasure for the eyes and heart to see the revitalized school “Neim Babameto,” where the children and teachers have returned today to find themselves in fantastic learning and recreation settings which can’t compare to the old school demolished by the earthquake (where teaching process operated on a two-shift basis, while today there will be only one shift,” Rama said.
Minister Ahmetaj said that the “Neim Babameto” school includes 28 classrooms, 5 laboratories, a spectacular gym. “This is one of the 31 schools re- built in partnership with the European Commission in the municipality of Durrës. This is an investment out of state budget that was implemented on record time, “Ahmetaj said.
Meanwhile, the reconstructions financed by the European Union, including the Vocational School of Durrës, are well underway.
Ahmetaj said that “vocational high school is on the list of schools that are being built by the European Commission.” “It is one of the first 5 schools constructed in partnership with UNDP, financed by the EUR 115 million grant allocated by the European Commission. Its reconstruction is progressing at steady rates,” said Ahmetaj.
Meanwhile, he said, the second group of EC-funded schools is either in the process of projects or procurement by the donor.
Ahmetaj said that this school is slated to reopen the doors for its students by the end of January 2021. /m.m/j.p/sm/
