TIRANA, October 13/ATA/ The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth clarified the procedure of paying extra hours for teachers in schools during these pandemic times, where classes are divided into a small number of students.

In response to the allegations raised by the opposition according to which “The teachers work over 40 hours a week, but are paid only for 5-6 hours, the Ministry of Education clarified that this is a misinterpretation of figures in the calculation of overtime”.

According to the Ministry of Education, in September 14.000 pre-university teachers received overtime payment.

“We say that in September there are about 14 thousand teachers of the pre-university education system who have received payment for the additional hours completed. According to estimates, the payment to a teacher from overtime goes up to 8,500 ALL per month. We also clarify that teachers work in classrooms that are at half capacity, as defined in the instruction on the number of students in the classroom during pandemics”.

The Ministry of Education has also commended all teachers for the commitment shown in this unusual situation by assuring them that the support and gratitude of the ministry for them will never be lacking. z.tosku // a.a /p.s./
