Workshops on Youth Empowerment to identify and address security challenges in their communities

TIRANA, September 28/ATA/- Ninety young women and men from Shkodra, Mirdita, Përmet, Pogradec and Korça participated in a series of workshops on Youth Empowerment that took place throughout September and concluded yesterday in Korça.

Throughout these events, the OSCE Presence aimed at helping young people become among the key players in identifying and addressing the security challenges in their communities.

The training focused on:
– New security challenges to youth;
– Mediation and conflict resolution skills;
– Domestic violence and gender-based violence;
– Violent extremism and radicalism among youth – early identification and prevention tools; and
– The role of youth in the Local Safety Councils.

The energy and engagement of the young people on security matters makes us optimistic that they will be among the most active voices to boost co-operation and co-ordination between institutions and the community to improve community safety.

The OSCE Presence will continue supporting young people from across the country during year 2021 as well, in order to raise their awareness and empower them to address security challenges in their communities. //a.i/
