TIRANA, Sept 16 /ATA/ The National Library has displayed for the first time rare copies of textbooks authored by prominent personalities of Albanian letters from Veqilharxhi, Kristoforidhi, Kullurioti to Sami Frashëri, De Rada, Ndre Mjeda, Parashqevi Qiriazi and Aleksandër Xhuvani.
Minister of Culture highlighted the importance of books written by outstanding authors for the new generation in our country.
“It is important for the younger generations to know that language is not an eternal fact, that a little more than a century ago, Albanians were prohibited to speak and write their language, that too much blood has been shed to protect those letters. This exhibition is also a call to love and preserve the Albanian language, ” said Margariti.
“This exhibition is not opened by coincidence. It is linked not only with the new academic year, but also with the month of cultural heritage, because these ABC books are part of it. “Language is our heritage and we must pass it on from generation to generation,” said Margariti.
