United opposition: Unilateral constitutional changes undo June 5 agreement

TIRANA, July 21 /ATA/-By A. Fortuzi/ – The unilateral adoption of changes to the Constitution to eliminate the pre-electoral coalitions undoes the two previous political agreements reached respectively on Jan 14 and June 5.

In a press statement on Tuesday evening, the united opposition described the today’s agreement between the ruling majority and the parliamentary opposition as “a diabolic plan by Prime Minister Edi Rama.”

“The unilateral modification of the Constitution on banning the pre-electoral coalitions undoes the two political agreements on the elections, namely the Jan 14 and June 5 agreements,” the united opposition said.

“The today’s act is evidence to Edi Rama’s diabolical plan to approve as a facade first the June 5 agreement, play a trick on our strategic partners, the United States and the European Union and undo it just a week later through unilateral constitutional changes that ban coalitions as electoral subjects,” the statement read.

“Cancellation of the Jan 14 and the June 5 agreements by Edi Rama is a dangerous action with unpredictable consequences for the country’s stability,” the united opposition warned.
