DP has no exclusivity over Parliament, says PM Rama

TIRANA, July 15/ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that every point requested by the Democratic Party (DP) will be respected, but he added that the DP has no exclusivity over the Parliament.

During a press conference, PM Rama said that, “Every point requested by the Democratic Party will be respected and it got approved today by us, I hope to find consensus with the other party to the end, as part of the Electoral Code. The DP has no exclusivity over the Parliament, which it has abandoned, among other things, to say anything other than what I like. This does not exist, it is absurd to ask for it “, said PM Rama.

Regarding the statements of the DP leader Lulzim Basha in the meeting with President Meta, PM Rama said that, “If Lulzim Basha thinks that the agreement has been thrown in the bin and if he really does not want the agreement anymore, there is a very simple way for him to prove that the agreement exists. Let’s depoliticize the electoral administration. “Let’s make 2-3 more changes that we wanted and which they did not want and I think they would do good to the country, they would do good to the elections.”

Of course, said PM Rama, “I say this to make everyone understand that in fact the opposite is true. The deal is there and we will support it to the end. And we will do our best for it to be voted by consensus even by the Parliamentary opposition. We are not even two parties, we are three parties.”

“Yes, this Socialist Party has every right, this or this Socialist Party is here only to give the absolute exclusive consent of only one party. We are aware that we should make concessions more than the others, not because we have a duty “, PM Rama emphasized.

“In Europe, where we want to integrate, the electoral reforms are done by simple majority. You know that. You know that Italy makes electoral reform by a simple majority. You know that Greece changed the electoral system. We have not changed the system because we have not gone from a regional proportional system to a majority or a national one. The majority system was backed by Lulzim Basha. The system is the same, regional proportional system”, said PM Rama.

So, added PM Rama, “From a political point of view, I would certainly be happy if we all agreed on everything, both us and the opposition outside Parliament, and the opposition in the Parliament, but this is not possible. And in politics there is a rule, whoever makes errors, pays. It left the Parliament. If they were in the Parliament, they would not only have the floor, but they would also have the vote. They do not have it, some others have the vote which I did not bring to the Parliament, nor did any autocratic machine did. They were brought by Lulzim Basha and other leaders. So what are we talking about here. Albania will be held hostage at the moment when there is an opportunity to make a greater opening of the system and to give people the opportunity to vote for the lawmaker because the group of parties that have left the Parliament do not want that. But this does not happen anywhere. “I understand everyone, but of course everyone should understand me.” /a.g/p.s./
