Berat, busy with tourists during weekend

TIRANA, July 15/ATA/ Berat, the city of ‘one above another windows’, has begun to be busy with local and foreign tourists, especially on weekends.

Known not only for its rare beauty, but also for its hospitality, Berat arouses more and more the interest of tourists who have visited it.

Head of the Regional Directorate of National Culture of Berat Eugen Kallfani said today for ATA that, “in Kala at the weekend there was a large influx of visitors, mainly locals, from different cities.”On Saturday and Sunday there were 300 visitors, of which 50 were foreigners, mainly from Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic, etc.”

According to him, these are modest figures, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“However, this figure is a signal that on weekends local tourists come more and more and use the free entrance,” said Kallfani.

“There are about 486 cultural monuments in the entire region of Berat and this has an extraordinary impact, especially in boosting cultural tourism, especially in recent years,” he added.

In 1961, Berat was officially declared a museum city. Today, Berat inherits 210 museum objects, of which 150 are standing objects. Of these, 60 are monuments of the first category and others of the second category./p.s./
