TIRANA, April 23 /ATA/ Completion of the legal framework with a specific law on maritime tourism enables Albania to boost this sector of tourism by attracting local and foreign tourists.
This is what the SP lawmaker, Eglantina Gjermeni, said during her remarks in parliament highlighting the importance of this bill for maritime tourism.
‘Regarding the draft law on maritime tourism coming from the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, it is designed to set out the rules and criteria for the activity of maritime tourism, the types of tourist vessels, the necessary infrastructure for their operation as well as define the institutional responsibilities for development of these activities. The tourism of sea and sun that defines Albania is short-term, seasonal, limiting the full potential of coastal areas. To diversify the tourist offer of Albania due to its potential and competition in the region, we complete the legal framework with a specific law on maritime tourism enabling this type of tourism for domestic and foreign tourists. Although it seems a bit weird that we are talking about maritime tourism right now in this situation, I strongly believe that tourism will be one of the main components of our economy to ensure better economic development, more employment opportunities and put the economy back on its feet thanks to the natural beauties and investments in infrastructure and services.
