TIRANA, March 18 /ATA/- Tirana mayor Erion Veliaj stated on Wednesday that over 5 thousand elderly who live alone receive hot meals at home from the social workers.
Veliaj announced that if there are people who are lonely elderly and have not yet been contacted by the social services of the municipality, they should call the administrative units and they will have a warm meal at home right away.
Veliaj went on saying that they can contact the toll-free number 0800888 as well as the administrative units.
“The lonely retirees are provided with prepared lunches. As for earthquake-affected families living in tents or containers, they receive a basket of staples on weekly or monthly basis,” he said in a televised interview.
Speaking about the cleanup of the city, Veliaj said that from three times a day Tirana is cleaned 5 times a day now. On the other hand, he stressed that all administrators are taking measures to disinfect apartment buildings and elevators as part of measures against the spread of novel coronavirus.
