TIRANA, December 3/ATA/- The Parliamentary Inquiry Committee for ousting President Ilir Meta decided today to postpone the deadline of its activity by 4 months.
The lawmakers of the ruling majority and the opposition convened today and decided to postpone the deadline of the activity of the Inquiry Committee.
Lawmaker Alban Zeneli who chaired the meeting of the Committee today argued that the Committee didn’t have the proper time to collect and examine the facts. The aftermath of the quake in Albania has also had an impact. “Thus, the Committee finds it impossible to stick to December 8 deadline, but has decided to have an extension by 4 months of its activity”, said Zeneli.
The Inquiry Committee has reviewed the actions and failures of President Meta in connection with the decrees he issued to cancel June 30 local elections and to postpone them to October 13. At the same time, the President is being investigated for other acts. The ruling majority claims that the President has violated the Constitution.
The committee today voted with 8 votes in favor and one against the four-month extension of the inquiry for ousting of President Meta./a.g/p.s./
