Vetting, Independent Qualification Commission postpones session on Lezha prosecutor

TIRANA, November 15/ATA/- The Independent Qualification Commission held today a hearing session on evaluation of Simon Pashuku, a prosecutor at the Prosecutor’s Office of Lezha Court of the First Instance.

The Commission began today the hearing session according to schedule.

But, Pashuku managed to adjourn the hearing session demanding exclusion of the panel of the Independent Qualification Commission composed by Brunilda Bekteshi, Suela Zhegu and Xhensila Pine.

Head of the jury Brunilda Bekteshi said at the beginning of the hearing session that the Commission had completed the investigation only on the property criteria.

Afterwards, Prosecutor Pashuku took the floor and said he considered the panel biased because he had been denied a request to reopen the investigation on the other two criteria, that of purity of image and professionalism.

Therefore, Pashuku demanded the expulsion of the panel. The latter withdrew and decided to postpone the hearing session until the request of Prosecutor Pashuku’s was considered by another panel.

Simon Pashuku began his career as a Judicial Police Officer in 1999. He was appointed prosecutor in 2012 and has served in Kukës Prosecutor’s Office for five years. In 2017, Pashuku was appointed to the Prosecutor’s Office of Lezha where he continues to exercise his duties./j.p/p.s./
