TIRANA, November 4/ATA/- The trading and merger process is consolidating the banking market in the country by making them more competitive.
In the third quarter of this year, Albanian banks have increased their market share by over 2%, which according to Bank of Albania are classified as medium and large-sized banks.
Consolidation through bank mergers has been a policy driven by regulators across Europe to create stronger and healthier banks.
In the last two years, the consolidation process has reduced the number of banks from 12 to 16 . Small-sized banks emerged from the market by selling shares or merging with others.
Their sale and the creation of power bank market are expected to revitalize competition and boost loans offered by banks.//a.i/
