TIRANA, Oct 7 /ATA/ – Spokesperson for EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Maja Kocijancic said Monday that the October 6 was a good day for democracy in Kosovo.
In her initial statement following the Sunday’s early parliamentary elections in Kosovo, Kocijancic hailed the voter turnout as a very positive fact, saying more people cast their vote comparing with previous election in 2017.
The EU spokesperson underlined that important tasks await new Kosovo government, highlighting the country’s economic and social development, the rule of law and commitment to resuming dialogue with Belgrade.
“This is of the benefit of citizens of Kosovo and the region. The EU will continue its work and cooperation with Kosovo and promote reconciliation, regional cooperation and good neighbourly relations in the Western Balkans,” Kocijancic said.
The European Union had deployed an election observation mission for the snap general election in Kosovo on October 6.
The Mission is set to unveil a preliminary report on Tuesday and the final report will be published in the coming months.
