TIRANA, Oct 1 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama affirmed Tuesday evening that the ruling Socialist majority is open to consider the change of the current electoral system, but he added that nobody can set conditions for dialogue.
The new parliamentary opposition has warned it will condition its vote on the electoral reform with the overhaul of the entire electoral system.
“Nobody can lay conditions for dialogue with me and the Socialist Party. If they haven’t found out yet, they should clearly know we are the majority that has been voted in to govern and not follow the lead of those who lack the votes, yet want to lead the process. We are ready to sit and totally open to mull suggestions to change the electoral system. Yet, whoever imposes conditions, he is the one to lose,” Rama said.
Rama stated that the next parliamentary elections will be held in June 2021 as scheduled.
