TIRANA, September 4 /ATA/ The Ministry of Education has constantly increased the number of free textbook beneficiaries while the fifth grade students across the country have been added to the scheme this current year.
Education Minister Besa Shahini said that in 2017 the number of beneficiaries was about 86 thousand while for the current school year, the number of beneficiaries is more than 220 thousand.
“While in 2017 the number of beneficiaries was about 86 thousand and in 2018 about 180 thousand, for the new school year 2019-2020 the total number of beneficiaries is more than 220 thousand out of which 155 thousand are pupils from the 1st grade to the 5th and about 70,000 others in the 6th-12th grade who are included in the 16 special categories of families in need; disabled, children with certain social statuses, victims of trafficking, minorities etc ”, -said Shahini.
While the fund for covering the free textbook scheme for the current year is ALL 600 million from the state budget./z.tosku/p.s./
