TIRANA, Sept. 3 /ATA/ – An anti-informality crackdown continued Tuesday with inspectors ordering suspension of work on a construction site after finding a number of illegally uninsured employers.

“Combating illegal employment is a fundamental part of the fight against informal economy all over the country,” Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Tuesday.

Following the inspection action that led to the suspension of work at the construction site, the Minister of Finance and Economy Anila Denaj said that the Albanian government attached tremendous importance on implementation of labor law to make sure that every employee is treated according to legal obligations.

“We are focused on the fight against informality and the State Labor Inspectorate is following the suit with inspections focusing on safety measures to prevent workplace accidents, mainly in construction sites. The inspection actions are also designed to make sure that employees are treaded according to the law,” Denaj said.

“Over the past two months, inspections have been carried out in many sectors, mainly focused on tourism, leisure and hospitality industry, where 40% of violations were found in more than 2000 inspected entities. 30% of employees were illegally employed,” Denaj concluded.
