Electoral and justice reforms will be Parliament’s priority, says Balla

TIRANA, September 2/ATA/-“The ruling Socialist Party has put the priority on guaranteeing the vote of the emigrants for the 2021 general elections and on depoliticization of the election administration. These two priorities will be met through the electoral reform,” said the chairperson of the Socialist Party’s Parliamentary group Taulant Balla.

Being a guest to a television studio, Balla said, “It is our obligation to give Albania a new Electoral Code within this Parliamentary session”.

“I am hopeful, because even at the Chairpersons’ Conference today, together with the opposition parliamentary groups we have agreed on the importance of concluding this reform within this deadline. By October, we will also have the OSCE / ODIHR recommendations for the last elections but also for the 2015-2017 elections,”said Balla.

He wished the non-Parliamentary opposition will take its seat on the electoral reform commission and take on the responsibilities that belong to it in order to have a complete Electoral Code so that to guarantee June 2021 general elections.

Balla said that the power is taken only by vote and the opposition is well aware of that.

Speaking about the electoral infrastructure, Balla said that, “We need to make significant strides towards technologies to calculate votes so that Albania also has the election result within Sunday night, after the polls have closed”.

Balla also said that, “The Parliament will continue its work on implementation of the Justice Reform”. “The Parliament will act soon and elect the new members of the Constitutional Court, as the Parliament is entitled to elect 3 of its members,” said Balla./j.p/p.s./p.s./
