Agreement on recognition of pensions with Canada

TIRANA, July 30/ATA/-The agreement on mutual recognition of pensions with Canada is one of the most contemporary agreements reached until now.

Albania’s ambassador to Canada Ermal Muça made the statement during an interview on television in Canada during which he highlighted the significance of the agreement and shared details on the benefits of the Albanian citizens from this agreement.

The ambassador said the agreement was a result of the long negotiations with the Canadian state.

The main objective of the agreement is that the Albanian-Canadian pensioners benefit from their work contributions and the right to transfer their contributions from one country to the other.

The ambassador said that if a retired person enjoys his pension in Albania and now lives in Canada, then his pension will be sent to Canada at his own request and vice versa.

The agreement with the Canadian state came in the wake of 8-9 months of negotiations between the two governments.

The ambassador also said that the government has recently forwarded to the Parliament the proposal for ratification of the agreement that will be followed with the proper procedures even in Canada.

Albania has signed similar agreements with 11 other states./zina tosku/p.s./
