TIRANA, July 22 /ATA/ – Politicians and former high-state officials should fear creation of the Special Prosecution Office, SPAK, which will put an end to a culture of impunity in the country, the Socialist lawmaker Vasilika Hysi said on a TV interview on Monday, marking the third anniversary of the adoption of constitutional amendments and judicial reforms designed to cleanse Albania’s justice system of corruption and political influence.
Hysi noted that justice system does no longer depends on the politics.
“What is worth saying today three years later is that politics can no longer hamper the judicial reform. Implementation of the judicial reform today is entrusted to several new justice bodies, starting with the High Judicial Council, which should carry out the procedure for the Supreme Court and once three Supreme Court members are nominated, three members of the Constitutional Court will be then elected,” Hysi said.
She noted that the long-awaited Special Prosecution office will be investigating high-level corruption cases involving current and former high-level state officials.
“All corrupt politicians, regardless of the political party they belong, and every individual with links to organized crime, any current or former high-level officials who have violated the law should really fear SPAK establishment,” she stated.
