TIRANA, May 27 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama addressed on Monday through his sixth open letter the chairman of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha, inviting him to sit together and engage in an unconditional dialogue.
Following is the full text of Prime Minister’s sixth public letter:
Mr. Chairman,
My letters are about to come to an end. The last to take my chance in the Dialogue is this week which will close with the official kickoff of June 30 campaign.
From my part, almost everything important has been brought to attention in these letters and what is left is our obligation to sum up some of the main things that have been articulated and written.
1. Two years ago you did exactly the same thing and exactly for the same reasons: Panic over elections and fear of justice. At that time you had walked out of parliament and gathered in the tent of New Republic to stand up for the old justice by refusing to vote vetting. It is known how things went, I will not get into further detail.
2. This year you are harping on the same string, from a new perspective of irresponsibility translated into burned mandates, boycott of elections and threats to prevent people from going to June 30 polls. Still, fear of elections and panic from justice have blinded and deafened you so hard that you have set out on the pathway of an imaginary liberation war against tyranny. The fact is that you should be at war with yourself to overthrow the tyranny of fear within You, because Albania is not in the hands of any tyranny, it is in the hands of a democratically elected majority which will govern the country until 2021.
3. As you see first- hand, the support for You in the hopeless adventure is shrinking, no matter how hard you push and stretch the bodies of your followers across the boulevard, for the sake of photo effects and mass participation, you do nothing but lie to Yourself and to those who want to be deceived into thinking that some thousands of employees from the blue municipalities and the modest number of militants joining them are the people of Albania in protest against the govt.! This lie could keep the spirits of You and political leadership of your grouping high for some time. Believe me when you are jolted from daydreaming about the departure of govt. in place without elections it will be painful for that group and you as their leader if you follow the hopeless path on which you are blindly marching.
4. I appeal once again as you have not missed the deadline yet, to start unconditional Dialogue and jointly usher in a new era of political cooperation wasting no time, energies, opportunities for solution into this senseless refrain for the country, for people and opposition of course!
5. Be sure Mr. Lulzim that elections will be held on June 30. This ruling majority will continue to exercise its responsibility for at least two other years when its legitimate term of office runs out. Vetting and justice reform will be unshakeable, unstoppable and unquestioned as long as time will not raise the need for amendments to the legal corpus of justice and only with the consensus of our international partners.
Reminder: Albania should open EU accession negotiations this year and unfortunately, you are doing the utmost to stand in their way. One thing is for sure, the Albanian people, including any rational democrat who has never and will never vote for SP, will never forgive you for such a mischief.
Edi Rama
