TIRANA, May 3/ATA/-Deputy Minister of Interior Rovena Voda and General Director of the Civil Registry Office Bledar Doracaj inspected today the offices of ID card applications at the administrative units No 8 and No 9 in the capital Tirana.
Voda appealed to the citizens that have their ID cards expired to address to the application offices so that to avoid the long lines at the end of the year.
“We have noticed a fall in the number of applications for ID cards. Perhaps, this happens because of the decision to postpone the expire deadline of the ID cards up to the end of the year. But, I appeal to the citizens to apply and not leave it for December because it would provoke another influx of people applying even for biometric passports”, said Voda.
She added that the new ID cards will serve the citizens even to get services from the other institutions, the banks as well as for their movement in some countries abroad.
A great number of citizens, about 1.4 million Albanians, will have their 10-year documents expired during the first half of 2019.
For the first time, in 2009 in Albania were produced biometric passports and ID cards./j.p/p.s./
