Borchardt: Changing election date, a complicated process

TIRANA, April 23 /ATA/ -By Gjergji Mima/ The OSCE ambassador in Tirana, Bernd Borchardt, stated on Tuesday that postponement of elections’ date is a complicated process.

“For the moment, we have an election date, June 30. Changing that is a complicated process,” Borchardt told a media briefing.
Asked whether postponement would be a solution, he said: Of course in 2007 it happened, but is it a good solution? There is something that political actors here would have to decide, whether this would be a political solution. And, only postponing? What would that change, he said.

Borchardt went on saying that the OSCE encourages political parties to find a solution, however it is up to them and to other political parties to agree on one.
“ We are the ones who are encouraging to move forward, to find solutions and we are the ones who can provide expertise on which solutions can work and how they can work. But what is a good solution for a country….this is a sovereign decision. We can only advise on the functioning of solutions.”

Earlier today, the head of OSCE Bernd Borchardt had a meeting with the heads of several opposition parties, HRUP, RP, EAP and CDP.
