TIRANA, April 22 /ATA/- “Our attention is focused on live stock,” this is what Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Blendi Çuçi, stated during the presentation of agriculture support schemes at the meeting with the farmers held in the region of Gjirokastër.
Çuçi stressed the importance of national schemes 2019 for the region of Gjirokastër as a region rich in pastures which needs to prioritize livestock production and dairy farming.
During this meeting, representatives of Agricultural Development Agency, rolled out the schemes and held a questions and answers session on support of livestock drawing the attention to the low number of applications this year, seen as a flawed mindset about subsidies in this area.
Director of Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, encouraged the farmers to apply for farming subsidies, which is the main means of rural development in the area.
For his part, the minister said that Gjirokastra has great agro-tourism potentials which need to be unlocked. Çuçi encouraged the farmers and rural entrepreneurs to apply and benefit financial support for their enterprises in rural sector.
