TIRANA, April 10/ATA/-Under circumstances of repeated irresponsibility of the concessionaire at Rinas “Mother Teresa” Airport to respect its legal obligations and guarantee security, Albania’s Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka ordered today stationing of Military Police officers and officers from the Special Battalion of the Armed Forces at the security parameter of the airport.
While appreciating Tuesday’s money robbery at the airport a rather serious event, Minister Xhaçka shared the concern arguing that events like this cannot happen in an area of special importance.
The minister said that the Chinese concessionaire company at Rinas Aiport has failed to implement security standards defined in Albania’s legislation and World Organization of Civil Aviation.
According to the minister, this is a case of irresponsible violation of Albanian legislation and expects that there will be concrete persons to be held penally accountable.
Xhaçka added that the situation requires urgent intervention to protect security of the citizens and the country’s image./m.m/j.p/p.s./
