Opposition leader Basha: Protests will go on until government overthrow

TIRANA, March 28/ATA/ – “The protests will not stop until the overthrow of Rama government”, said the Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha to the protesters gathered today in front of the Parliament building.

Basha said that, “For 6 consecutive years, this government has stolen and impoverished the Albanians; it has put fines, increased taxes, energy price; it has taken to prison and pushed to commit suicide people who couldn’t pay the bills; it has ruined thousands of businesses, hundreds and thousands of other people have fallen into despair; it has ruined the health system and closed hundreds of schools.”

Further on, Basha said, “In this square, there is even the solution and hope for the Albanians”.

Basha accused the prime minister of cheating the students and pledged that the DP will solve the problems of the students adding that a new day of European universities is coming for Albania, too.

Basha also said that the battle would go on because it’s inspired by the spirit of democracy.

On her part, the chairwoman of the Socialist Party for Integration Monika Kryemadhi pointed to the prime minister as responsible for 400 thousand Albanians leaving the country.

According to her, Albania is ranked in the first place in Europe for the number of asylum-seekers.

According to Kryemadhi, the government failed to fulfill its promise of opening 300 thousand new jobs.

Following the speeches of the opposition leaders to protesters gathered in front of the Parliament building and the constant attempts to break the police security cordon, the protest was displaced to the area in front of the Ministry of Interior./a.g/p.s./
