TIRANA, March 15 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ “It is needed a national plan for rehabilitation of the road works of art in use for over 50 years,” Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku stated while bringing to the fore a number of issues and the need for urgent repair.
Balluku convened Friday a roundtable on dam safety in the Republic of Albania.
“Ministry of Infrastructure and Economy has prioritized road safety and as seen, the road safety action is in our focus in addition to elimination of ‘black spots’ on our road axes,” she said.
Balluku said that her ministry has prioritized the bridge rehabilitation. “We have conducted a monitoring and inspection report which has started in October 2018 with view to determining the benchmark for bridge safety and eventual repairs,” Balluku said.
According to her, some of the bridges are in dire need of repair as far as road safety is concerned because we kick-start a process which will extend to other sectors.
Balluku said that the novelty of technical passport for each bridge is a very important element putting emphasis on methodology for inspections, maintenance and use of bridges.
“Our aim is not to cause panic but to inform the public which is a passive stakeholder in these cases and a user that we have identified an array of issues and are here today to work out our long-term solutions,” Balluku said.
