TIRANA, July 2 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ – “To date Albania is closer to Europe. It is not me telling this fact, it is not my govt. either, it is international friends of Albania who have approached our old and new history like never before,” the head of SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, said.
With regard to the visit in Tirana of European MP Knut Fleckenstein, Balla says: “Albania was visited by EP Rapporteur on Albania, Knut Fleckenstein, who spoke about the positive decision of the Council, the great support that Albania has drummed up from 6 big political groups in the EP, be them leftist, rightist, centre, conservatory or green parties, the unshakeable support from German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the German ruling coalition, and how Europe appreciates the reforms and efforts made by Albania so far.
Afterwards, Balla went on citing that EP Rapporteur on Albania Fleckenstein as saying: It is important to cooperate rather than become a stumbling block on this long path ahead. He appealed for a cooperative political spirit instead of an opposition standing in the way of reform.
