TIRANA, July 2 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ – Germany is ready to help Albania deliver on requirements of EU Council for opening of accession negotiations.
This is what Anke Holstein, the charge d’affaires of the Federal Republic of Germany stated in her remarks at the round table entitled: “What is expected of Albania following the conclusions of the EU Council on General Issues: Expectations and Tasks.”
She said that “Germany expects from Albania to implement the Council conclusions, which are absolutely clear”.
“Everything has been clearly formulated and straightforwardly said. We are ready to help Albania meet the requirements. The things that German parliament and the parliaments of other countries are closely watching are very clear: fight against organized crime, corruption and completion of the Vetting process,” she said.
Concerning organized crime, Holstein commended the fruitful cooperation with Ministry of Interior of Albania. “Things are going well and I hope within next year we will see tangible results to win over the undecided member countries,” she said.
Moreover, Holstein pointed out that priorities set in the vetting process should be addressed and treated as soon as possible by the Vetting commission.
“We hope that this process will complete the cases on the priority lists in the months to come. The cases assessed as negative should be referred to prosecution office. German Parliament watches closely the justice reform, fight against corruption and organized crime,” she said.
The charge d’affaires of the Federal Republic of Germany said that Albania is making a lot of efforts in this regard and we are ready to provide the necessary assistance in the future.
