Coastguards or people who rescue lives

TIRANA, May 19/ATA/-Albania will have an active coastguard force tasked with search and rescue of people in danger at the sea during the coming holiday season.

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment Hajrulla Çeku told ATA that these guards will be present in our beaches.

The government decided to introduce the coastguards along the beaches so that to avoid any tragic event like those that happened during the last tourist season.

Çeku also said that the government is cooperating with the town halls, the hotel owners or the administrators of the private beaches on introduction of the coastguards. The government has envisaged even fines and revocation of the license of the subjects if the Task Force confirms the absence of coastguards in the area.

Albania has a lot of people who can do the job of coastguard. Since 2014, many young people have got training at the “Lifeguard” Institute in Montenegro.

Thanks to the project of the National Coastal Agency and Ministry of Tourism, at the Albanian beaches there will be licensed professionals available to rescue human lives at sea.

2000 people have been trained in the context of this project. Other trainings are scheduled to take place on May 25-26-27./a.g/p.s./
