Eco-tourist package tested in Shkodra

TIRANA, May 8/ATA/-A group of seven specialists began to test out the eco-tourism package in the northern Albanian city of Shkodra. The package consists of presentation of the protected areas as tourist spots. It’s important for the biodiversity and carries the potential for development of eco-tourism.

The team went to spots like Rozafa castle, Buna River, Shkodra Lake and guest house in Velipoja.

Head of Shkodra affiliated branch of the National Agency of Protected Areas Agim Dardha said that, “The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and aims at presentation of eco-tourism as a concept and the most sustainable way for exploiting the best resources and increasing the economic revenues”.

This is the first time that Albania takes part in this project and is presented with the protected areas of Shkodra and Vlora regions while the tourist packages are prepared by the staff of the National Agency of Protected Areas in cooperation with Albanian Trip, an independent travel agency.

The packages will be subject to examination of ecological trace so that to certify their sustainability.

“Shkodra is currently in the testing phase of the package and a group of 7 testers from Italy, Germany, France, Costa Rica and Croatia will conduct testing and later leave their suggestions. There will be a second testing phase in September 2018”, said to ATA Agim Dardha.

The group climbed the heights of Theth and expressed special impressions about the beauty of the area./n.lena/ /a.g/p.s./
