TIRANA, May 2 /ATA/- Roughly 57 judges and prosecutors are expected to undergo the vetting of Independent Qualification Committee. The heads of courts and prosecution offices are also on the way to reevaluation.
This is what Vice Minister of Justice Toni Gogu said in his remarks as part of Public Accountability session in Tirana where he dwelt on justice reform and results achieved so far.
“Until yesterday a bunch of corrupt judges had thrown the gavel and grabbed the scales inhibiting any sincere effort from within the ranks to reform the system, holding the future of an entire nation to ransom. To date we are putting our capacities to the test through a radical and painful therapy of purging the system of justice,” he said.
He said any since reform is painful, yet necessary to restore the confidence of Albanians in the system of justice.
