TIRANA, May 2 /ATA/- Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Wednesday at a meeting with Tirana residents in the framework of public accountability that construction of Vlora and Kukes airport will be associated with lower air fares.
Rama was acquainted with some of the main concerns facing the citizens during this meeting with the citizens. One of them voiced concern at the high air fares. In reply, PM said that only competition can drive this airport to reduce prices citing the airport of Vlora and Kukes as contributing factors.
The air fares are the highest in the region. We should and will increase competition that will swiftly reduce the tariffs in Rinas airport as they will feel compelled to maintain the balance. Vlora airport will set the lowest tariffs in the region. We hope to stay at lowest tariffs in the region. Kukes aiport offer low cost flights. These two airports will compel Rinas to reduce tariffs. We cannot step in to reduce the airport tariffs, PM said.
