TIRANA, April 18/ATA/-Albania’s President Ilir Meta received on Wednesday European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini.
President Meta welcomed the European Commission’s positive recommendation for Albania opening EU accession negotiations, an assessment of the enormous efforts of Albania in its irreversible process of the European integration. While recognizing the contribution of all the local actors to building Albania’s European trajectory, Meta expressed gratitude to Mogherini and the European Commission for the support and help to the Albanians.
The head of state emphasized that this recommendation of strategic importance for the country must act as a catalyst for unity and work focus on deepening of the key reforms for the country.
The president also positively assessed the recommendation for Macedonia appreciating it a step of strategic significance for the regional stability and security.
The president said to Mogherini that Kosovo must also benefit from visa liberalization with the Schengen space while this country moves ahead with its EU integration process./a.g/p.s./
