TIRANA, April 14 /ATA/-By I. Vata/ – Albania’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has voiced support for the US-led strikes on Syria’s chemical weapons capabilities, hailing the strikes as a timely response to the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime.
“The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the chemical weapons attack, on April 7, in the town of Douma, Syria, which took the lives of many innocent civilians, including women and children,” the Ministry said in a press statement on Saturday.
“The today’s strikes by the US, the UK and France are a timely response to the use of chemical weapons, once again, by the Syrian regime, which represents a serious crime, a breach of international norms and as such it should be punished,” the statement reads.
“We strongly believe that the instigators and the perpetrators of such horrible acts should be facing justice and made to pay for this horrible crime against humanity,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs also said it believes that a political solution is still possible and supports any efforts for this purpose, as the way to end the conflict and the suffering of the Syrian people and brings long lasting peace in the region and beyond.
