TIRANA, April 12 /ATA/- At the end of June, the health system will have a clear table, ranking all the hospitals in the country based on the standards they meet.
In an analysis of the first half of the year into her term of office, Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, appeared before the SP parliamentary group, outlining the new initiatives undertaken to improve health system in the country.
She said that the Ministry has launched the initiative for accreditation and ranking of hospitals across the country that will be made public by the end of June.
Thanks to the new approach, the premises in regional and municipal hospitals were freed. Manastirliu provided figures, adding that some 1800 square meters of public space have been freed in 11 regional hospitals and 24 municipal hospitals.
She touched on one of the problems inherited from the past, the shortage of specialist doctors in the district’s hospitals. Under the initiative to strengthen regional hospitals, Manastirliu said, the patronage and bonus system for doctors will yield results.
She went on saying that in the first case doctors go to regional hospitals according to a schedule, while in the second case specialist doctors choose to work (to be transferred) to regional hospitals, which qualifies them for the government bonus, much higher salaries.
