TIRANA, April 12 /ATA/-By I. Vata/ – The main opposition Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha called for the suspension of the country’s Prime Minister Edi Rama from Parliament, claiming that the Premier was the author behind the decision to keep in custody 11 people from Kukes region involved in a violent protest against tolls on the Nation’s Highway in end of March.
“This parliament cannot function without suspending the Prime Minister. That’s why we should raise up our voice and speak up against any injustice,” the opposition leader told the Parliament’s plenary sitting on Thursday, claiming that the government head was the author of remanding in custody 11 Kukes residents who were arrested following the protest on the Nation’s Road.
The Parliament Speaker Gramoz Ruçi advised opposition leader Lulzim Basha to refrain from illegal actions that could block the Parliament’s proceedings and invited lawmakers to discuss an agreement with Kosovo.
Following repeated calls, the Parliament Speaker suspended the Parliament session.
