TIRANA, March 31 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – The government of Albania is preparing and will launch a new national employment program called “Employment 2021” as a way to tackle employment challenge and get more Albanians into work.
The Socialist Party parliamentary group members and a team of experts are working on the National Employment Program 2021 and process is underway with a survey to collect opinion of entrepreneurship and business community across the country.
Addressing an event on employment in the southern city of Vlora on Saturday, Prime Minister Edi Rama pointed out to his government’s employment program, its results and job growth challenges.
“We will soon launch the National Employment Program 2021, which feature all concrete objectives and ways to get people into work. We vow to find job to all of those who want to work, without imposing the condition ‘we want to work in public administration,” Rama said.
This was the Premier’s message to all contributors to the Socialist Party’s election victory, saying “the victory cannot be rewarded with a job position in the state administration for everyone.”
“This would have marked the state’s end. We will do everything to guide jobseekers to the private sector and we will provide paid placements with businesses for job training,” Rama said.
The government’s head said the National Employment Program is not a strategy in the sense of a written document, but a detailed program for each sector, which addresses employment and offers objectives, figures and instruments to achieve these objectives.
Prime Minister Rama said that employment rate in Albania is above the region’s average.
“There are many promising and encouraging reasons in terms of the employment promotion. If the employment rate in the first quarter of 2014 stood at 41.5 percent, it has gone up to 57.7 percent in the last quarter of 2017. Employment rate is above the region’s average. However, although the unemployment rate was 18.2 percent in 2014 and it has fallen 13.2 percent in 2018 it doesn’t mean a lot when considering the extraordinary need for employment,” Rama stated.
The Premier voiced his government’s commitment to address the complex employment problems in the country.
