North-East, breath-taking opportunities for tourism development

TIRANA, March 16 /ATA/- The North-East of Albania offers breath-taking opportunities for touristic development. Roughly 30 km off the city of Kukes , situated on the boundary of three countries,
Shishtavec is stashed with natural architecture.

Geographic position, climate conditions, hydrography, rich flora and fauna are very important elements which in this region with great tourist potentials create opportunities for development of sports, rural tourism, ecotourism, hunting tourism, etc.

Mountain peaks, water springs and rivers, gorges, canyons, high- rise forests and rich fauna form a magnificent and attractive backdrop for development of sustainable tourism all year round. High lands of Shishtavec in winter are perfectly suited for winter sports and events.

Yesterday, EU Ambassador Vlahutin and Austrian Ambassador Sattler explored Shishtavec and its surroundings. On Guri i Mengjesit (the Morning Stone), immaculate white slopes could be easily turned into successful resorts for winter activities!

To support sustainable touristic development, the EU has invested in the road between Shishtavec and Kosovo, which will increase mobility in the cross-border area. The EU has also invested in the rehabilitation of Shishtavec itself, reconstructing streets with natural stone tiles – improving the touristic attractiveness of the village and the everyday life of its people.
