Regional agencies to succeed agricultural directorates

TIRANA, March 13 /ATA/- Right from the city of Elbasan, PM Edi Rama declared that 13 agriculture directorates will merge into regional agencies.

“We have taken the decision to finalize the reformation of the outdated structure of agricultural directorates. From now on, the agriculture directorates, a parasitic system, an atavism from the past, will be succeeded by 4 plus 4 regional agencies,” PM Rama told a news conference after the govt. meeting.

The agencies have been conceptualized as four in charge of agricultural legislation and four regional agencies in charge of veterinary services and plants protection.
PM added that one of the veterinary service and plant protection agencies will be based in the city of Elbasan.

“This process of reformation is intended to consolidate the agency for rural agricultural development and better organize the service of agriculture counselling. We create a real instrument in the hands of those in need for agricultural counselling and guarantee from the perspective of veterinary services and plant protection,” PM said.

Rama expressed his confidence that these agencies will bring in an added value and a process that will improve food safety on a constant basis.
We remain firm in our stand to guarantee the entirety of the food chain that represents a vital sector for our country, a potential, yet untapped resource in the socio-economic development of the country.
