TIRANA, March 7/ATA-Maela Marini/ – The opposition has embodied a mud-slinging strategy to Albania while has consistently kept a contrary attitude to the judicial reform, vice chairwoman of the Socialist Party parliamentary group Elisa Spiropali stated in an interview to ERTV on Wednesday.
Spiropali provided explanations between the opposition’s old ‘song’ of not sparing mud-slinging the country and the international echo of impressive progress in the fight against crime, praised and congratulated by our strategic partners.
Referring to Albania’s echoed progress in international media in the fight against organised crime and cannabis cultivation, Spiropali evaluated the EUreporter article as too realistic about Albania.
“The report talks about Albania’s sustainable progress towards all priorities but also in the fight against organised crime and cannabis cultivation. However, it is more than enough if we refer to EU’s high officials’ statements as well as the joint statement of Stabilisation-Association Committee between the EU and Albanian Parliament which acknowledges the progress made by Albania in all areas, especially in the fight against organised crime and cannabis cultivation,” Spiropali said.
In regard to the judicial reform, Spiropali stressed the fact that “Albania is avant-garde in the Western Balkans as Albania is undertaking this reform unconditioned by the EU. “We have ourselves decided to undertake the judicial reform which is one of the main chapters in the negotiations phase with the EU,” she said.
Spiropali extended an invitation to the opposition to follow up this strategy as according to her “this is a winning strategy.”
In relation to the large cocaine seized at Durres Port, Spiropali said that it is a testimony that law enforcing bodies are on alert and in the line of duty. The operation was praised by the U.S. Ambassador in Albania as well as EU representative in Albania, which see Albania through a magnified lens, she added.
