TIRANA, Oct 28 /ATA/ In a public address focused on economic growth and student policy, Prime Minister Edi Rama revealed that the national budget has officially exceeded €10 billion, marking an all-time high. Rama dismissed critics who downplay the nation’s economic momentum, asserting that the record budget demonstrates clear fiscal progress and expanding economic capacity.
Rama recalled that just three days ago he had declared that, following the new legal package on urban violence and anarchy, he would directly announce new relief measures specifically for ordinary families—not as promises, but as official government decisions within the framework of the new state budget for 2027.
The new draft budget was submitted today to Parliament for discussion and approval.
The Prime Minister went on saying that the Albanian economy continues to be among the most dynamic in the region, featuring strong, steady performance and rising real income levels across all segments of the population.
“Reaching the €30 billion threshold in Gross Domestic Product—where just 10 years ago this output stood at €10 billion—accurately illustrates the optimistic panorama of the economy. Therefore, in the 2027 budget and the medium-term budget framework, which coincides with the second half of our mandate from 2027 to 2029, we have planned a series of highly ambitious economic, fiscal, and social policy measures,” Rama stated.
“My message is very clear, I believe for everyone. We want more businesses, more companies, more private investments—small, large, domestic, and foreign. We also want as many wealthy people in Albania as possible, because the problem is never the rich; it is the gap between those who have a lot and those who have very little,” Rama emphasized.
The head of government stated that “we remain proponents of fair taxation. Those who earn more pay more, and we are here to bridge as much as possible the social gaps created by rapid economic transformation.”
Prime Minister Edi Rama reaffirmed the government’s commitment to progressive wealth redistribution, announcing that national economic gains will be consistently allocated toward public salaries, infrastructure investments, and expanded social welfare.
Under the administration’s policy framework, annual pension increases will double every year through the end of the current governing mandate, taking effect with the first payout in January. Addressing global inflationary trends, Prime Minister Rama acknowledged the financial pressure placed on ordinary families and young citizens by rising fuel and commodity prices, committing the administration to systematic interventions aimed at stabilizing household purchasing power.
