PM Rama renews call for dialogue with protesting students

TIRANA, Oct 27 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama has renewed his call for dialogue with protesting students and university professors, whose demands include his resignation.

The government head again posted images on social media on Tuesday of a stone table bearing the word “Dialogue”. Protesters have so far rejected his invitation.

Rama said he was willing to consider any proposals from the protesters aimed at addressing their concerns. He added that the government was preparing a package of measures to respond to their needs and translate citizens’ concerns into policy decisions and concrete support.

The 2027 state budget, which is due to be presented shortly, will include additional measures for families, public services and students, PM Rama said.

The government head said the state could not be brought to its knees through violence or by invoking student status.

Rama also warned that attempts to foment urban unrest, incite religious divisions or undermine Albania’s tradition of religious tolerance and harmony would carry consequences.
