TIRANA, October 26 /ATSH/ The Municipality of Tirana has selected about 1,500 families for its loan interest subsidization program. This program helps families buy homes in the capital through state-funded interest support. The final list has been sent to the Municipal Council for approval this October.
Introduced at the start of Mayor Erion Veliaj’s tenure, the housing loan interest subsidy program has been running for several years to support low-income individuals and families. The initiative eases their financial burden by subsidizing a portion of their mortgage interest, allowing beneficiaries to secure a home under highly favorable terms—specifically, a fixed 3% interest rate. Once the Tirana Municipal Council approves the list of beneficiaries, successful applicants must visit one of the partner commercial banks to finalize their subsidized home loan.
The loan amount is based on household size and specific program criteria. For many families facing high housing costs, this program provides a clear pathway toward homeownership. /e.i/j.p/r.e/p.s./
