Hoxha meets EU Ambassadors: Right to peaceful assembly is fundamental, violence is unacceptable

TIRANA, Oct 26 /ATA/ Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha on Monday met with ambassadors of European Union member states in Albania to discuss the latest developments in the country.

During the meeting, Hoxha reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to democratic freedoms, including the fundamental right to peaceful assembly. He stressed that violence, vandalism and attacks on public or private property cannot be accepted as legitimate means of political expression or any other form of expression, a principle that applies in Albania and throughout Europe.

The discussions also underscored the importance of safeguarding institutional stability, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring that public authorities act lawfully and proportionately.

Minister Hoxha reiterated the government’s readiness to engage in dialogue at any time, anywhere and with anyone not involved in acts of violence. He described dialogue as a democratic value and the best way to overcome differences, address concerns and move forward together.

Addressing the European integration process, the minister stressed that the European Union membership remained a strategic national objective.

“Difficult moments should strengthen our resolve rather than divert us from the reforms, democratic standards and responsibilities stemming from our ambition to join the European Union,” he said.

Hoxha welcomed the open exchange with European partners and their continued engagement with Albania in pursuit of the shared goal of a future within the European Union.
