TIRANA, October 26 /ATA/ – The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has congratulated the Albanian Coalition and the Albanians of the Presheva Valley on the results of the Parliamentary elections held in Serbia yesterday.
According to the foreign ministry, the developments in Serbia show the importance of civic engagement and the free vote as an expression of the democratic will.
“Civic energy that finds representation through institutions is an opportunity for change, but also a responsibility for those who earn the citizens’ trust. Special congratulations go to the Albanian Coalition and the Albanians of Presheva Valley, who have achieved a significant result in these elections,” the ministry stated.
The ministry noted that, according to preliminary projections, two parliamentary seats are within reach, while the contest for a third hangs in the balance.
“This representation should serve to advance the rights of Albanians, ensure equal treatment and address their legitimate concerns,” the ministry added. In this new political chapter for Serbia, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs emphasized that the normalization of relations with the Republic of Kosovo remains a fundamental responsibility.
“Albania expects constructive engagement in the European Union-mediated dialogue, respect for and implementation of the agreements reached, as well as concrete steps toward stable neighborly relations. This political shift should also create new opportunities for peace and cooperation in the region,” the ministry stated.
Furthermore, the ministry indicated that Albania remains ready to cooperate with the institutions that will emerge from this electoral process, based on mutual respect, shared interests and a commitment to a Western Balkans that is more stable, more secure and oriented toward a European future.
The Albanian Coalition of Presheva Valley is projected to win two seats in the Serbian Parliament, according to the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (CeSID) and Ipsos, with 56 percent of the sample processed. /m.q/a.f/p.s./
