TIRANA, Oct. 18 /ATA/ – The Muslim Community of Albania has called for social peace, restraint and dialogue among all sides in a statement addressing recent developments in the country and the ongoing protests.
The community expressed concern over any situation that could threaten public safety, social peace and coexistence, while stressing that the right to express opinions, protest and demand accountability is an important part of social life.
“Preserving peace, respecting others and avoiding all forms of violence are a shared responsibility,” the statement said.
The community urged institutions to take citizens’ demands seriously and called on all sides to show restraint, maturity and responsibility, avoiding inflammatory language, hatred and actions that could deepen divisions.
It said the current situation required reflection, wisdom and consideration of the consequences that words and actions could have for society. Human dignity, public safety and the country’s common good, it added, should be at the centre of every decision.
“Every disagreement, however complicated, must be resolved through dialogue, mutual listening and respect for the law and institutions,” the statement said.
The Muslim Community stressed that Albania is a shared home for all its citizens and that differences in views and beliefs should not drive people apart.
As a religious institution, it reaffirmed its commitment to peace, harmony, understanding and coexistence, saying dialogue and responsibility towards the common good were the way to overcome divisions.
