TIRANA, Oct 13 /ATA/ President of the Republic Bajram Begaj today attended the inauguration of the house museum dedicated to renowned Albanian writer Dritëro Agolli in Menkulas, Devoll, marking the 95th anniversary of his birth.
The Head of State praised Agolli as one of the most important figures in Albanian literature, whose work made his birthplace an inseparable part of the country’s national identity.

“People leave their birthplace to discover the world, but some make their birthplace known to the world through their work. Dritëro Agolli did both,” Begaj said.
The opening of the house museum, President Begaj stressed, represents an act of national gratitude towards the writer, as well as a valuable investment in cultural heritage.

Begaj described the house museum as a tribute to Dritëro Agolli and a valuable addition to Devoll’s cultural heritage, highlighting the role of local communities in preserving history and identity. He also praised Agolli’s ability to portray ordinary people’s lives and his mastery of the Albanian language, which made him one of the most influential and beloved figures in Albanian literature.

Begaj praised Agolli’s ability to connect with ordinary people through his poetry, prose and humour, as well as his contribution to public debate during the 1990s. He also highlighted the importance of preserving the writer’s legacy for future generations, particularly young people.

Earlier, President Begaj was welcomed at Devoll Municipality by Mayor Eduard Duro and Korçë Prefect Florinda Zegullaj. He praised their initiatives to promote local development and commended the hard-working and entrepreneurial spirit of Devoll’s residents.
