PRISHTINA, October 5 /ATA/ – Kosovo’s parliament voted 95–0 to ratify a €60 million loan agreement with the French Development Agency. The funds will go toward renovating and expanding the University of Pristina’s student campus as part of the infrastructure preparations for the “Prishtina 2030” Mediterranean Games.
During the presentation of the agreement to the Assembly, Acting Minister of Finance Hekuran Murati provided details regarding the project and the intended use of the funds. “This project will revitalize the University of Prishtina’s student housing and develop modern sports facilities at nearby schools to support both student life and the 2030 Mediterranean Games. The upgraded campus will temporarily house participants as the official Athletes’ Village, while the adjacent sports venues will serve as training grounds. Beyond the event, this initiative ensures a permanent, high-quality infrastructure legacy for the university’s students and Prishtina’s residents,” said Murati.
Discussing the agreement’s financial structure, Murati noted that the proposed €60 million loan includes the potential to secure an additional €10 million investment grant. These funds will be used to upgrade the university campus infrastructure and surrounding sports facilities, which will be vital for accommodating and training athletes during the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games.
Following the conclusion of the Mediterranean Games, the renovated infrastructure is expected to remain available for use by University of Prishtina students and the community. /KosovaPress/p.s./
