Foreign tourists bid farewell to Albania with eagle symbol

TIRANA, Oct 4 /ATA/ Albania continues to attract foreign tourists thanks to its coastline, natural landscapes, and historical and cultural heritage.

Tourism remains one of the most important sectors of the country’s economy, while extending the tourist season creates more opportunities for local businesses and contributes to increased employment.

Prime Minister Edi Rama today shared on social media a beautiful postcard featuring two foreign tourists who are rounding off their visit to our country by making the eagle symbol with their hands.

The diversification of the tourism offer in recent years has contributed to the development of tourism beyond the summer season.

In addition to coastal and nature tourism, Albania offers opportunities for cultural and historical tourism, while traditional cuisine, local products and hospitality are also part of the experience the country offers to foreign visitors.

The cities of Berat and Gjirokastër, both included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, as well as the Butrint Archaeological Park, are among the main attractions for visitors interested in history and cultural heritage.

Nature also plays an important role in Albania’s tourism offer, with national parks, mountains, lakes and rivers providing visitors with a wide range of opportunities.

Hiking on mountain trails, mountaineering, rafting and other outdoor activities are making adventure tourism increasingly attractive.

These opportunities not only promote the development of tourism in different parts of the country, but also attract visitors throughout the year, beyond the summer season.

According to data from the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), more than 9.4 million entries by foreign nationals were recorded in Albania during the January–August 2026 period, marking a 5.3% increase compared with the same period in 2025. In August alone, around 2.43 million entries by foreign nationals were recorded.
