TIRANA, September 19 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda and EU integration, framing them as a single, unified path of transformation.
In a video message delivered during the SDG Moment 2026, Rama stated that since 2018, poverty has dropped from 23.7% to 19%, infant mortality has been halved and over 95% of public services are now provided online.
“Almost all electricity is generated from renewable sources, while women make up 35% of the Parliament and nearly 50% of the government cabinet,” Rama said.
According to him, Albania ranks 44th globally on the 2026 SDG Index.
To accelerate this transformation, Rama announced that Albania has committed 6 million US dollars to the SDG Acceleration Fund, focusing on child protection, preparing businesses for the EU single market, revitalizing local communities, and combating organized crime and corruption. Rama also announced that Albania has signed the new UN Cooperation Framework for the 2027–2031 period, aiming to ensure sustainable and inclusive development.
“To drive sustainable and inclusive development that leaves no one behind,” Rama said. /p.s./
